# Research Engineer - Ultrasonic Sensor and System Location: Gaithersburg, MD Job type: Full-time Apply/contact: Please send resume and cover letter to dxiang@x-waveinnovations.com ## About the Role Wave Innovations / X-wave Innovations, Inc. is hiring a Research Engineer focused on ultrasonic sensors and NDT/SHM systems. This role is for a self-motivated engineer or scientist with strong hands-on experience in ultrasonic sensor and system development. ## Responsibilities - Conduct R&D of ultrasonic technologies and systems from concept through development. - Develop ultrasonic sensors and systems through modeling, simulation, prototyping, and testing. - Present R&D results to clients and collaborators. - Write technical reports and research proposals. ## Qualifications - Ph.D. or B.S. with 5+ years of hands-on experience in ultrasonic sensors and systems design and development. - Strong background in ultrasonics, guided waves, piezoelectric transducers, pulser/receiver systems, and system integration. - Experience in FEA simulations of wave propagation, transducer design, and ultrasonic NDT/SHM. - Experience with software development, AI/ML, signal/image processing, and data analysis. - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment. - Strong writing and oral communication skills. - Must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident. ## Education Ph.D. or B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field. ## Benefits Competitive salary and full benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401(k), profit-sharing, paid holidays, and vacation. ## How to Apply Please send your resume and cover letter to dxiang@x-waveinnovations.com.
